What I meant by what I said is hopefully less confusing then the contemplation of the question that led to the confusion in the 1st place.......

I believe that can be done; it just seemed like a basically meaningless statistic to me at the time I set up the forums. Is this something folks would like?

Hey Oddball, http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I personally don't see much need for it, but hey, to each his own.

Cheers,

Never even thought of that one, but I suppose it might be helpful for the person who posted a topic that hasn't been answered...

I read every post, since I have to know which ones need to be moved, closed, profanity dealt with or buttheads shown to the door...except when something happens that makes it necessary to shut down, such as the thunderstorm last night or if I'm in imminent danger of acquiring little square impressions on my forehead...so if nothing else, you know I read it...if I don't answer it's either because I don't have a clue, or more likely I don't really have time. At 26,400bps it's 3 hours just to check everything out and answer the few I try to respond to...and of course I'm usually also on mIRC and sit there goofing off quite a bit. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Don't you think it would kind of depressing to see that 40 people have read your post, and no one responded? You might think that there wasn't an answer, but might only be that the 40 were too busy, too inexperienced, too lazy to type, or whatever. And then the person posting might go off in disgust never knowing that the answer arrived with person number 54.

LOL! That's what I was thinking. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif As much as I would like the idea, I think if nobody answered me and I saw all the "views" I would start to get a complex. I'd just like to tell myself "Nobody has seen it yet" or they saw my name on the thread that I made it, and didn't even look!

In all seriousness, it might be pretty cool.

What kayofcircles is true.. 40 ppl seeing your post and no one awnsering.. well it can make it a little frustrating.. BUT.. I feel for my expireince.. when you post someting and you get a lot a read no matter what your replies are you feel good cause you actually posted a good topic.. and you feel with more confident to post more and more.. you know ppl are reading it!!

I considered suggesting showing the number of "views" for a topic. True, the statistic is mostly trivial (and potentially depressing http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif ), and may add visual clutter.

On the other hand... I've made a couple of (hopefully) informative posts in the past, and I'm curious how many times they've been looked at. If there is interest, it could be an encouragement to post more "stuff" along those lines.

Thats exactly what I mean Kenja.. it has it pros and cons I know!!

away from the topic.. I can't to see any of the replies from other topics.. I get like 15 e-mails a day... and I can only read the replies from this topic any Ideas guys??
