I see icons and levels under most people's names, such as "Ascendant Master Geek". What does that mean and how does one ascend levels? I've searched but can't find an explanation on the site. (A URL will be a fine reply.) Thanks.

Hi Carla,
It's all based on how many posts you have.

I think the whole thing is quite clever. It's kind of fun to graduate to greater levels of "geekdom." I suppose if I continue to have problems with my computers....it's not what you know it's how many posts you make. I've posted more times then Kriptokool but he actually knows what he's talking about and I'm just a geek wannabee. lol! Oh well. This forum is also overseen by some pretty sharp people who keep it professional, unlike many other forums where people get "ugly" with each other and the rhetoric just escalates towards new forms of rudeness.

Greetings, carla68.

Appears the icons/titles are awarded on a binary basis. (2 > 4 > 8 > 16 > 32...)

kenja: That might explain it! I mostly just ask lots of questions, but thought I might have gotten "extra credit" for a couple (like two!) correct answers. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Heh, yeah, I wondered the same thing back in December.
