I bought the Antec SmartPower 2.0 500W PSU on the strength of the Hardware Picks here. The unit failed after 3 days. I realize that this can and does happen with anyone's units, but, after doing extensive research, it seems that this PSU has a reputation for failure. I don't know how Antec can advertise 80,000 hours MTBF with so many units that don't even make thye six month mark, much less 50 hours.
The Antec customer support also leaves something to be desired as my computer will be down about two weeks before a replacement is here. And, I got the PSU in the UPS system the day it failed!
This I consider unacceptable. I ordered a SeaSonic M12 500W. More money, but, if it lasts more than a week I suppose it's worth it!
Live and learn..........

I'm going off now to lick my wounds!

Might want to look at Power PC and Cooling.

I'm sure that Antec doesn't manufacture all the components that go into their power supplies...it's probably the old "one bad apple spoils the bunch."

In your research, did it appear the problem was limited to the 500W or across the spectrum of units?
