We'll if you are using it for graphics, I wouldn't go with the first one if you have your own video card because it includes integrated graphics, which is an extra feature you're paying for that you don't need/want. The other product I was unable to view its specs. Could you list the other parts you are going to order? that way, i can better understand which to choose.

Thank you for your reply.

I have updated the link you could not follow to the ECS site that lists the item http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Products/ProductsDetail.aspx?CategoryID=1&TypeID=35&DetailID=685&DetailName=Feature&MenuID=1&LanID=0

I have just ordered another graphics card to, so that i do not share the ram. The card i ordered is the 3D X1950Pro 512MB GDDR3, although not a huge 3d card is bettter i think that the intergrated ones.

The system will them have the following.

Whatever motherboard i decide
2GB RAM
AMD64 4200+
SATA Hard Drive 250 GB Samsung
SATA Hard Drive 160 GB Maxtor
3D X1950Pro 512MB GDDR3
Coolermaster Aerogate 4x Fan Controller
Trust 5.1 Sound Expert Optical - 514dx Pci Sound Card In

I was reading the specs given with the link you sent me, and I think there could be mistakes. For instance "2 x 240-pin DDR2 DIMM socket support up to 16 GB" was a spec. Unless I have been sleeping for a few years, they don't make memory modules in 8GB sizes!!!! Also, what is your budget for a motherboard?

If I were you, I wouldn't get either of these motherboards because:

1. The PCI-E is only 8X efficient.
2. The graphics card you picked out in my opinion is VERY good, so you want a mobo that supports at least pci-e 16X.
3. I cannot believe any of the specs given based on the fact the memory modules are mislabeled.

Also, what is your processor exactly? Is it an Athlon 64 4200? or is it an Athlon 64 X2 4200?
Also, can you list your ram? Is it 2 x 1 GB? or 4 x 512?

Hi

Thanks for getting back to me ,its a great help.

I will try and answer some of your questions first. As to the Ram i am a little unsure, though i do know Kingston (http://www.nextag.com/8gb-ram/search-html) do 8GB and so do Crucial (http://www.myshopping.com.au/PR--114746_Crucial_CT2KIT51272AF667_8GB_DDR2_667Mhz_RA M), so i can only assume that they are out there for a price.

The chip is as follows

AMD Athlon Dual Core 4200+ CPU
FAST Dual Core X2 With NEW AM2 Design
64Bit Design Actual Mode 4200+ With L2 Cache
2GB DDR2 667Mhz PC5300 RAM Memory (2 X 1)

As i would understand it if i use one video card in the first pcie slot it runs at 16x if i add a second card (sli) the first 16x slot drops to 8x , the second slot runs at 8x... Most video cards don't even saturate 4x PCI-E. Even if it was 8x when not using SLI, it'll be a long time before 8x vs. 16x is an issue.

Hope this advises you a little more in helping me decide between the two. As to my budget, it is a toss up between the two.

Thanks

Richard

Here's (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131022) a good one. The Asus M2N-E, based on the NForce 570 Ultra MCP chipset. Excellent mobo for the price, but let us know if you actually want SLI. Usually it's not an issue if you aren't a gamer (and even then most pass it by) but if you really want it, let us know.
