I extracted an iso file to the hard drive, the file names are all truncated ie. TUTORI~0.MOV. How can I expand them all, back to Windows XP type file names?

If Joliet (http://bmrc.berkeley.edu/people/chaffee/jolspec.html) wasnt used when the ISO was made then all LFN's will appear truncated to some kind of 8dot3 and they can't be restituted because the info wouldnt exist on the ISO or the resultant CD.

The Joliet Extensions to ISO 9660 are designed to coexist with other extensions such as the "RockRidge Interchange Protocol". RR is not an integral part of the Joliet specification which is however requuired when making an ISO to preserve LFNs as would be found using Unicode.

The program making the ISO needs to have its configuration changed - or use other iso-creation software that does preserve LFNs in its place.

What did you use to extract from the ISO because I suppose it might just be reading the ISO (non-Joliet tables/file-system). You can check which tables were included on a CD or an ISO using isobuster (http://www.isobuster.com/).

The red [ISO] directory icon shows 8dot3 and the blue [>>>] (Joliet) one shows LFNs.

The ManagedDX.CAB file appears as MANAGEDD.CAB in the ISO file system on the same "ISO" image file (which actually is a Nero .nrg file in the linked picture) being simply truncated and not translated to a pure DOS 8dot3.

Thanks, IsoBuster did the job. I was using a trial version of Undisker which had all view-options except ISO-9660 greyed out.
