I just installed a new motherboard in my system. I finished updating everything and tried using skype to talk to my brothers. My voice cannot be heard unless I yell. I have changed, microphones, configured sound device settings, changed soundcards. I sent into my control panel and went to sound devices and made my settings exactly like my bothers (whose is working fine) and it didnt' help. I tested my voice recording and it was the same thing. my system could hardly hear me unless i stuck the microphone in my mouth and yelled. I even moved my sound card (after swapping it) to another pci slot just thinking maybe that slot was goofed....no luck. could it be something with the sounds options on my motherboard itself? i tried disabling them but there is no option. i tried using them and they dont' work......anyone have any ideas?

Try going to Start control panel, sounds and audio devices. Go to the Audio Tab, click "Volume" under Playback, and then the Volume Control should pop up. Go to Options, then properties. Make sure microphone is checked under, "Show the following volume controls." Hit OK then go to Options again, check Advanced Options. You might see an Advanced button under the Microphone's control volume. Click it. Make sure the Microphone Gain is enabled.

What if i do not have any of those sounds options on my control panel. Under the volume tab i don't have a playback button. i don't have advanced controls for my mic. My brother was trying to get me to go there but i didn't have the option. How do i change the options in my sound and audio device properties? I removed my soundblaster 24bit card and installed a cheap cheap 5.1 sound card i had to see if it was the card itself. would buying a new card give me different options? or is it just an update i can get. thanks

So your mike couldn't hear you f4rt if you stuck it where? :D
You sure you looked in the right place?
Double click your speaker. In Volume Control, click Options> Properties. In playback, make sure the mic is checked. Click OK. Go back in and select 'Recording' this time and do the same. make sure the sliders are up sufficiently.
If still no go, test your mike in another pc. Does your pc have onboard sound? If so, is it disabled in BIOS so the pci one will function? I assume you installed the drivers for these cards?
