I am running on Vista Beta II, and I must say it is slowing down my pc. Also some programs will not run (Symantec Anti Virus and Dev C++).

My machine has: P4 @ 2.66 GHZ , 1.5 GB Ram , 1.2 TB Space

Is the official version of Vista also so power hungry, or will it perform better and faster?

Also what is the deal with Aero, is it just the transparant windows and that 3D way of switching between programs, or is there more to it ?

Should I get Vista Ultimate or is it better to wait and upgrady my pc, and then get it ?

The final is much faster than Beta 2. Believe me, I've used both. Aero is just a graphical element. It requires at least a 128mb FX5200 or greater video card.

I agree with 123456, Vista RTM is much better then the beta and RC versions but if you are planning an upgrade you should wait and get Vista after your upgrade. Vista doesn't have any " I've got to have it" features so there shouldn't be any rush to upgrade. You also need to consider the problem of activating Vista on your old hardware then upgrading and having to reactivate it on new hardware, you will need to call MS every time you need to reinstall it.

Call MS everytime I reinstall, are they crazy ?

If I have to do that I will be better with a copy from work, a version which you do not have to activate.
