A friend called me about an old Campaq Presario PC he has....I checked it out the other day and his power supply fan was full of sooo much dust. Anyhow I upgraded it by addiding an extra 512 stick of Ram....its been 2 weeks and he called me today saying his pc's keeps shutting ing off andits really hot. Im guessing that his power supply is going bad? Because of all the dust? Would simply cleaning out all that dust make the pc stop shutting off or should I just get him a new power supply?

Dust can be an enemy but right now more curious about the memory. Is it the correct memory for that machine? Was it doing this before you added memory? If it is that dusty, could be the processor fan needs to be checked to see if its running

Indeed, you mention the dust accummulated on the PSU fan...did you do any other housecleaning other than the fan you mentioned?
