Microsoft Vista will be installed on my new PC to be delivered in several days. I have only a few files on my old Windows 98 PC that I want to transfer to my new rig and plan on burning those files on to a CD (they'll all easily fit on one) installing them on to new PC via the CD. Can I do this? If not, why not?
Sure that can be done for just about every file. The only limitation (other than size) would be protected operating system files and configuration files (which Vista wouldn't know how to use anyway).

Thanks for your prompt response.
That's the way I'll go.

These files on the CD would be read only. You need to remove the read only from the file properties once you install them on the new HDD....

I'm not sure I would have remembered to do that. Thanks for your reply and advice.
I note that you live in Wyncote which is just down the road Huntingdon Valley where I reside.
