I first noticed this problem when I couldn't get my PC to print. I uninstalled and reinstalled my printer and whenever I plug the printer using the USB port I get a (USB device not recognized message). I replaced the USB cable and uninstalled and refreshed the USB drivers, nothing has helped. I checked the printer by installing it on another PC, it worked perfectly. I have checked all USB ports for eny errors none were detected. I am out of ideas, can enyone help.
Thanks

What windows version are you running? Try plugging in a different device into the usb and see if that works, if so, its a printer issue, not necessarily usb.

Have a look at http://www.hat.net/geeky/node/221 to show you how to see hidden devices in Device Manager, etc.
Assuming there are no unknown devices in Device Managaer - go through the following routine:-
Detach all USB devices.
Uninstall Printer.
Uninstall all USB entries in Device Manager.
Reboot.
Reinstall Printer Software.
Attach Printer.
If no good, at your own risk, you can try a registry tweak.
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Usb
Create the Usb key if it doesn't already exist. Under this key, create a new DWORD value called DisableSelectiveSuspend and give it a value of 1. Then restart the PC.
Then repeat the above routine.
Once USB gets malconfigured it can be very difficult to correct - sometimes needing a repair installation and a de novo installation of the USB drivers.
One MS link regarding this problem when WinXP coming out of hibernation (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/871233).
PS odannyboy000 correctly enquired about which OS and I have assumed it is WinXP.
