Hi

I am looking for a freeware that converts documents into pdf format. I used to have one and now I have lost it. Is there one out there that is commonly known to work the best?

TIA

Cute PDF Converter (http://www.cutepdf.com/Products/CutePDF/writer.asp) has always worked very well for me. It creates a virtual printer so that you would choose to print your document with it and it then "prints to" a pdf file.

Thanks Paul for narrowing down the field! :) My Google search found what appeared to be endless possibilities...

There are a lot of command line utilities but I have found them a bit cumbersome and a bit sketchy at times. I have used CPC in the past and also happened to have converted a 20page word document, with loads of illustrations, into a pdf file only three days ago - so it was fresh in my mind. One used to have to also install ghostscript to be available in the background but I think the newer version (which I haven't tried) incorporates this with the install.

Of course you could get an OEM copy of WordPerfect and version after 10 and it has the option to produce a PDF. It is better than Word, and it has (at least since Version 8.0) more features.

Look here (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=WordPerfect+12+OEM&btnG=Search) for prices

Don't forget Open Office (http://www.openoffice.org/) has a built in PDF converter, can open MS documents, is an excellent office app, and it's free. :)

Thank you all for the recommendations. I'll check them out. I am surprised how inexpensive the OEM Wordperfect is. I also found PrimoPDF at download.com which seems to have a high rating, FYI.
