hi guys,
first of all, Ive got an ATI Radeon x800 xt 256mb, I was thinking of upgrading to Nvidia 7600 or 7800, is it better ?
Ive got ram that is 533mhz but I'm not sure PC-WHAT, so if any one could tell what is the fastest and best ram that would work without looking at the price, id appreciate. and also if you could help find out PC-WHAT it is :P
for my hard drive, ive got a wd 250 gb, in everest it says device type sata, so I guess a sata hard drive will work so, would think one work ?

by the way I think Ive got a 350 watts power supply
thanks a lot

I'm no expert myself, but for starters I may want to upgrade the power supply.
Maybe someone else could suggest one?

Ummm, yeah! You need a new PSU first! 350W is enough to power a modern $450 vid card. And that's it!! After you get a decent PSU, you can consider upgrading your vid card. Also, what slot? AGP or PCIe?
As for the RAM thing, I assume you've got DDR2? In which case, 533MHz would be PC2-4200/4300. The fastest RAM? That would probably be Corsair's Dominator XMS2 right now, with documented OC headroom in the 1200MHz range. Then again, the chances of your mobo being able to handle such a high caliber of RAM are slim to none. You might want to stick to more tried-and-true JEDEC stock DDR2, such as PC2-6400 at the most.

I wouldn't go higher than a GeForce 7600 GS. You're pushing it already with that Radeon X800 XT - I don't know how that PSU is still alive.

my pc is a dell and the x800 xt came with it, I also read that the power supply is more then able to power the x800 xt so I could acctually upgrade to a x1800 but I want a nvidia.

If it's a Dell, then they rated the PSU differently. OEM's always do proprietary things.
If you want to go higher, go with a GeForce 7900 GS or 7950 GT.

check here to have a computer scan your PC and tell you exactly what will work on your system
http://www.crucial.com/
their "upgrade adviser" will give you the accurate PC type, card slots(type and number) and RAM type
it is a good tool that i have used in the past to help me when i was upgrading my RAM
-JUST remember that they are pricey on their RAM, but just go to NEWegg to get the same components
