If anyone has any advice on this, i could really use it - thanks in advance for the help.

I have been running the Office 2007 Beta 2 (Technical Refresh Installed) since November of 2006. I just bought a full version of Office 2007 (Professional) and now need to uninstall the 2007 Beta version so i can install the retail version - problem being that when i go to uninstall the beta (via add/remove programs) the uninstall starts but then pops up a message saying "The uninstallation was not successfully completed".

I think the problem may be that the installer files for office were deleted from the windows installer folder (C:\WINDOWS\Installer) and therefore it can't find the uninstall utility.

Computer is an IBM T60 (2007-03U) running Windows XP Pro.

Any guidance on this matter and how to resolve it would be greatly appreciated.

(PS: i already talked tech support about the issue and they were beyond useless: Microsoft said i needed to talk to IBM and IBM said i needed to talk to Microsoft).

Does reinstalling the Beta bring the uninstaller back?

Also have you tried from admin or safe mode?

I did try uninstalling in safe mode, no luck

I have not been able to reinstall using the beta package because i dont have a copy anymore. If anyone still has the beta install or knows where i can get it, that would be great.

Take a look HERE (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301) seems to bear some relevance to your problem..

Microsoft has updated the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility. With the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility, you can remove a program's Windows Installer configuration information. You may want to remove the Windows Installer configuration information for your program if you experience installation (Setup) problems. For example, you may have to remove a program's Windows Installer configuration information if you have installation problems when you try to add (or remove) a component of your program that was not included when you first installed your program.

Worth a read at least!..;)
