Hi Guys,
Just assembled a new machine with the following specs: Gigabyte GA-965P-S3with Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 processor, 1024MB 667Mhz DDR2 RAM, 320 GB Western Digital Sata II Drive and a Nvdia 7100GS graphics card.
I am experiencing problems installing Vista on this machine. First I tried to do a clean install straight off the dvd, it goes through everything a-ok, until after the 2nd reboot and says its completing installion but it just hangs on this screen for hours.
Failing that, I decided to install Windows XP first and then do the upgrade. XP install was successful, went through without a problem. But then when I performed the upgrade same result. It just lingers on the completing upgrade bit for ages and then the cursor freezes. The status bar at the bottom is around 3/4s of the way through, is on Step 2 of the install/upgrade process when it just decides to give up.
Cany anyone offer any suggestions as to what might be causing this? Memory or graphics card related perhaps?
Many Thanks
