system= windows 95 32mb of ram cpu turned on
work on line approx 20 min cpu running in
quiet mode . come back to cpu work on line
retrive e mail total time 20 min . cpu
back in quiet mode 3-4 hrs. go back on line
to get into web sites error messag ie canncelled cannot open site etc etc can not get on site i must reboot then
can go back on line and into web site .
have checked properties of memory working ok
?? nothing running in back ground that is not needed clock ,sys tray, etc . any suggestion would be helpfull HD 6GB ONLY USED

I'm having a bit of trouble understanding exactly what is going on here... my first thoughts are: perhaps a virus, or an overheating problem.

I DID HAVE THE AOL VIRUS BUT ALL REMOVED
I RE FORMATTED SYSTEM AND THIS PROB SERVICED
DEFRAGED AND IT GETS TO 60% AND SHUTS DOWN
TELLING ME THAT SOMETHING WRITING TO HADR DRIVE .ALL SYSTEM WERE SHUT DOWN BEFORE
DEFRAGING ONLY SYSTEMS RUNNING WERE NEEDED

please open the windows explorer and
go to tools then
go the internet options
click the tab click the delete cookies then
click the delete files then
click the clear history and all
say ok and apply

Okay, first thing... all caps is shouting and it is unnecessary.. we can hear you, we just can't understand...

Second, please explain in detail what you are talking about. I read both your posts several times and I still don't know what you are talking about... Complete sentences and details about what is going on and what you have done would help a lot....

On the defragmentation issue,
Boot into SAFE mode and defrag the machine, by doing this you eliminate many things that can interfere with the defrag process, hence the "writing to disk" messages.

Its over three years old. I think it might be safe to consider it dead.:D
