Hi
I was read an artical from Itworldcanada about speding up harddrives etc. and the recommended this software Duplicate File Finder from Funduc. I tried it and came up with over 6000 dup files. I made a restore point and tried to delete the duplicate files but I got an error(maybe because it was the free verdsion?) I was just wonder if anyone has used this tool and can say if its good or bad and is their any down fall to removing dup files?

Thanks

I would double check ALL files it lists as dupes.
Are they the same file ?
Or just files with the same name ?
Read.me in c:\data\pdf and Read.me in c:\data\wp
Would not be the same
File naming and dupes being deleted can lead to a real hassle .
The same goes for anything in cab folders or 386 folder

I have not used the program you are testing.
But I have used others and found the intuitive programs work reasonably well
But you need to be very careful and limit their searches

I have always found that a hard drive works best when it has 50% or more empty disk space
That is what I try to do with my work stations.
Moving files to other drives off the work station ,
Keeping it at top performance.

Thanks for the quick response.

They weren't indentical file names but when I clicked on them the went to the same window, (I had about 10 AVG files when I clicked aways brought me to the same window) if this makes any sense. My Hdd is 83% full and it dosen't seem like I have to much programs. All my pics, movies/video, music is on a seperate hdd. So I'm trying to free up some space without removing programs.
