My friend and I are making a video for a technology class, and we're making real life video games (like the Omega64 videos). We need a special effects like gunshots and other video game effects.
Does anyone have a cheap software that you could point me to? That would be great.

I have not reviewed any of the sites linked from this Google Search (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=free+sound+effects&btnG=Google+Search), but you should find what you need through one of them. My brother recently showed me Sound rangers (http://soundrangers.com/) but they seem a weeeee bit costly to me. Just my 2 cents ;)

Has a bunch of CreativeCommons (http://creativecommons.org/) licensed sounds...

Another way is to Google something like "gunshot wav". This brings up loads of hits with free samples
..even Gomer Pyle saying 'Shazam!' LOL!

What exactly do you need?
A program to put effects: like sound, smoke, snow, rain?
if thats the case. GMAX would be the best- it is essentially a stripped down version of 3ds MAX (Autodesk no longer supports it) AND its FREE!!
it even comes with a Video game Coder known as MAxscript- never used it myself

Well we'll need sound like gunshot noises. Smoke would be nice. But the GMAX sounds great. I Could work it on my PC at home, but does is it supported by a MAC? We have those at school.
I personally don't like MACS.

Well, i not to sure about MACS, but it is available at turbosquid, they would have more information about it,
Also, they have "Paid for" expansion packs- but one could get by with the minimum FREE package, it just does not have as much textures (But then you could always make your own, or download FREE GMAX editors from Game munfacturers)
