Suddenly Start Button Items Blank

Hello Everyone, this has been happening for about two days now. Does anyone know what causes this and how to fix it from happening again.
If I restart the pc, it goes back to Normal, but I dont want to be doing that everytime? Please see attachment. Thanks

You could try TweakUI for XP and see if Repairing Icons makes any difference. This is somewhat equivalent to deleting shelliconcache under legacy Windows.

Does it also happen in an additional user account - be it all you just create one temporarily?

Question: When you run your mouse over them, do they become readable?
Like, the blackness goes away after your mouse highlights them?
