Outlook Express shuts down when i fill up the "To" field when composing emails

Hi,

I have a strange problem.
I am using Outlook Express 6 with IE 6, on a Windows XP Pro SP2.
OE worked well till two days ago. When I compose a new email, the moment I type anything into the "To" field, the whole OE application shuts down by itself.

I ran Spybot, Adaware and AVG Spyware to search for spywares but all turned out negative. I ran Norton AV, TrendMicro's online virus scan and AVG Free Anti Virus and all turned out negative too.

Have searched google for solutions but no one seems to have had similar issues.

Can anyone offer any advise please?

Has this happened more than once?
does it always do it, or is it intermittent?

You could try a new identity in OE and see if that changes anything.

Switching to something like Thunderbird (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/thunderbird/), although not a fix, is recommended by many regulars here. It will import all your OE stuff if you decide to set it up.
