I am Robbie the robot. My advice to you is just give bland and emotionless answers to question.... http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Sorry Sea, couldn't resist. I think it is deathly important to have an opinion on everything in your life. Especialy if you are truely informed on the subject you are concidering. Being a "MODERATOR" means having the responability of thinking about and for everyone involved, maintaining control of a situation and keeping attitudes in check so that good information can be obtained from the discussion. Not sure what the subject matter you will be working with is, but congrats and good luck. Hope you will still be around here as well.

Good luck Sea.......it seems to me that Maturity is the # 1 ingredient necessary to be a successful moderator (subject knowledge is a given) and I've been most lucky to find a Forum in which the moderator is mature!!!

Well, I think it might work out ok if you'll pay attention to what's already been posted and watch the attitude, you can't wake up on the wrong side of the bed whe you're the one who sets the example, think twice-type once-would be a good way to look at it.
And start typing the entire words instead of the one letter abbreviations you like to use. Those are really annoying to me presonally, although I never say anything about it, but it does two things. One, the brain instantly recognizes the word "you". The brain stumbles on "u" and has to stop and decipher it. So the person is wasting time trying to figure out what you mean instead of paying attention to the intended message. Sure this only takes a split second, but you just distracted your reader.
Two, no matter what the quality of the information otherwise, people have a natural tendency to write you off as a kid too lazy to type the other two or three letters and pay less attention. I know I certainly do. I see someone do that and I think `now you just typed much more intricate words, like configuration, applications, and so on, and you can't expend the effort to type the simplest of 3 or 4 letter words`...It diminishes the impact of what you're trying to get across. For a moderator it's also not the greatest of examples to set...
I go out of my way to make sure everything is spelled correctly, and presented in the most understandable manner I can get it, so the technically challenged can get a grip on what I'm trying to say. I think that's one of the reasons we have such a great crew here, I try to set the best example I can, and we don't get many people here trying to help who don't know what they're doing, because things are usually handled in a mature, intelligent manner, rather than with a haphazard, who cares attitude like some forums end up with.
OK, lecture's over, I'll get off my soapbox. I wish you good luck with it, and hope you do well.
Think twice, type once...
And thanks for the compliments everyone.

You're welcome, and good luck.
I was a bit worried you might be offended, but thought it best to play it straight, and be honest about it. I thought a couple things could stand a bit of improvement, and tried to let you know without being insulting, and hoped you would see it as constructive criticism. Looks like maybe it worked.
Anything I/we can help with, drop us a line, I'm sure most will be willing to try.
