I have a pentium Duel Core 2.66 x 2 with a geforce 7600gt card. vLater on in the year im thinking of upgrading to a geforce8800gtx. As far as i know the guy that made my PC for me put in a X-Power PSU,(i think that this make of psu is 400w but as far as I know the recommended power for the 8800 graphics card is 450w.Can anyone confirm this for me and will i have to change my PSU just to get the graphics card to work?

Open your computer, and check the value of the PSU- it should say what it is rated for on it.
Then add up the wattage usage of all the components (you will need to consult the manuals) they should be <PSU rating. Check how much power the 8800 GPU uses and see if the total (minus your current GPU usage) is still <PSU rating
If it is, no need for an upgrade, if it is not, then upgrade
@Mods:
i think this belongs in "Upgrading advice" forum

Even on a barebones system with a single-core CPU, one stick of RAM, one optical drive, and one hard drive - I wouldn't recommend an 8800 with a 400W PSU.
I'm afraid you'll have to upgrade your PSU. 400W is barely passable these days for any system. And it's totally out for a gaming system. 450W is a better minimum, but the high end vid cards necessitate 500W or more as standard.

Thanks. Is there anyway of checking the power of my PSU without taking my pc to bits and physically checking it? Ie can i do it thru my pc? Ive looked into device manager and i cant seem to find the spec for it.
