I have learned alot searching and reading post over the years. I even built two gaming rigs. (but always had the cpu installed and tested) all of you gave me the courage to do so. so here i go again and will try something new. From what i read, it dont seem hard at all but if you can walk me through it that would be cool ... heres my question: i have a AMD Athlon 64 3000+ and will be upgrading/installing a 4000+.

Once i remove the old cpu and install the new one and add heat paste. Once its reinstalled (fan and all), is there anything else i need to do? and also will this affect anything with window xp now that i changed the cpu.

thanks in advance

You shouldn't have to do anything new. You should be able to turn it on, and your computer should recognize your new CPU! :)

There may be a chance where you have to do some BIOS and/or driver updates, but it's doubtful.
