is A+ the general certification test you should go for first or is there another certification test you should take before it?

My sources have always suggested passing the A+ first and then move on to others...

The A+ is considered 'the beginning, or alpha' of your computer endevours, depending on which direction you are trying to go into. There are also those that want to go straight into networking (MCSE, CCNA, CCIE, ect) and don't want to fool around with hardware. They do not neccessarily have to go the A+ route. I have an A+ and am going to start studying for my CCNA, but I like the actual PC-building arena also. The A+ is in a sense a good way to break into the computer field, especially if you are a novice to this industry. Hey, I have my A+ and I do 100% phone support, mostly networking issues!!
Whatever you choose, the best of luck to you............
