Its all about learning how to install, upgrade, troubleshoot, assemble and disaseble and repair a computer. a very exciting course to learn if you just want to know more about computers or try to break into the IT field.. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Depending on your skill/knowledge level, the material one needs to know to pass the A+ Certification exam is pretty detailed. There's numerous study book/aids, check your local library, ebay, or local book store. Plus, the test is expensive $$.

I'm just now getting into the material and studying for the darn thing. The new exam is due out after the first of the year.

Word of advice for you guys. The current tests involve the CORE (hardware aspect), and the DOS/WINDOWS (dos and win95, mostly win95, with a 'touch' of win3.1). If you are already familiar with these, go ahead and take them before the new tests come out. IF you want to wait, the next test will involve Win95/98, Win2K, and Linux. I am not familiar with these and from what I understand, there are no study guides out for them yet. It is up to you though. The core will be pretty easy, for the most part, but the DOS/WINDOWS exam is a little tougher. If you want good study sites/practice exams to go along with your book(s), let me know.

Why not do both? I have an A+ certification, and gues what? I don't even do desktop support. I do helpdesk with network concentration. I am going to pursue a CCNA, hopefully aquiring it by the spring. I think that this way I am more marketable. By the way, an A+ is for life, whereas with the other certifications you have to recertify within a couple of years, or so. Whatever you decide, good luck to you in your endeavours. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
