I'm really at crossroads here and need to get some advise. Just to give you some background. I just got my foot in the door working with a big company as a contractor handling 1st level tech support for employees on network, printer issues as well as many others on W2k, Win NT 4.0, Win 98, Office 2000 and Office 97 products. I have been doing this for 3 months. Prior to that, I have been doing desktop support for 1 year with Windows NT 4.0 as an extra duty after we migrated to PCs from dummy terminals as an extra duty with my claims job.

Now, here is my question. I currently have my A+ and MCP for passing the workstation test. I'm split between wanting to be a Network Adminstrator or a Web Developer. Would it be possible to study both at the same time? I do have some knowledge on FrontPage 2000. I have created my own website and know how to update pages. Funny thing though, I don't know anything about HTML; because FP2000 is pretty simple to use. So, if Web Developer is a good field to get into, since I like working on websites, what would be the roadmap of courses I should take?

If Network Adminstration is a good one, does getting the Network+ and Server+ a good thing to get before pursuing my MCSE in windows 2000?

Futhermore, would it be possible to do both the Web Developer and Network Admin track at the same time? Or should I focus on one? This is really tough; because I love doing both and I have a network at home that I play around with and do LAN events bi-monthly.

Joe,

In my opinion, and that may not be worth much, I would stick to the Network Admin. track. Since you already have experience with in the support arena, you increase you odds of success in the Networking field. I like the idea of going after your Network + then your Server+ because that is what I wish to pursue, as soon as I pass the A+ Dos/Windows later this month. After completing your Networking goals, you can always work on Web Dev. later. Good Luck
