Hey all,

before coming here, i googled this error message, but it came back with no results.

i just finished putting together a new computer, and wanted to put linux on it. but when i insert the cd (Ubuntu) it gives me this error:

"ISOLINUX 3.11 Debian-2007-03-12 isolinux: Disker error 01, AX = 4240, Drive EF"

what does this mean?

Couple of ideas/links here (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=422668).

Thanks Paul. This seems pretty close, the only problem is, is that I don't have any OS on the computer, so I don't have a way of updating the BIOS, which seems to be a recurring problem (and it's an old mobo).

I'll keep looking, but thanks for the help!

so I don't have a way of updating the BIOS
The common way is to boot to a boot floppy with the BIOS upgrade on the diskette. No-one round here recommends flashing the BIOS unnecessarily.
