Trying to install a program from a CD and it said "This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator." Now this is my computer that I built for the grandkids and there is no administrator here. How to I correct this problem or where do I locate syst. admin. on a computer running ME.
Thanks in advance.

try logging in as administrator, with out a password, and see if there is a password protection
Now this might be a good thing if the grandkids are young- it will prevent malicious code from installing on the computer

What is the software?
Have you checked their web site for this error?

You are the administrator - there are no administrator accounts on WinME or other DOS-based versions of Windows. Listen to ClassicSoftware and also consider whether the software can be run on WinME.

A few of the questions you guys are asking I can answer, reason is not long after I made the post of the new thread I flew down to Florida. So I am not at that computer right now I should be back by Sunday. The program that I am trying to install is a wondow washer program. I need one of those, because theese kids goes on some outrageous website and I have to do a lot of cleaning up after they go home. The program perhaps was not for windows ME. I got a copy from my friend who purchased it, he did not tell me what operating system it could not work on.
