Hey everyone, im just having all kinds of problems with windows today:p

I have an old drive thats been bombed with FDISK from the MS-DOS prompt.

I want to access it, partition it, and install NT 4/NT 3.51 on it. The only problem? Win ME or 2000 cannot see the drive, but on both if i go to system and check if the drive is working right, they both say its a-okay.

Partition Magic will cancel out with an error:

and with that i suppose it is talking about the old hard drive.

How can i access and format this drive to make it usable?

Have you tried going to Computer Management, and then Local Disks to format and partition so Windows will recognize and give it a drive letter? Master/Slave cable settings properly chosen?

The drive may have an abnormal mbr. Suggest you use BiNG from a floppy or cd to write standard code to its boot record or wipe the drive with the manufacturer's own utility. You could also use fdisk /mbr but that is best done with only the problem drive attached at the time. If there is any old overlay on the drive then wiping it from a floppy or cd is the best method.
