I am looking into a larger monitor for my desktop. I just wanted some suggestion as to the monitors people own or have owned and how good or bad they were.

Thanks for any suggestions. (Looking towards 22" or 24")

That is nice. Approximately how much is that in US $$?

Here are a few I found that look good...

Do you know the difference between the speeds? When it says 8ms, 5ms, or 2ms, is that the refresh rate?

When it says 8ms, 5ms, or 2ms, is that the refresh rate?

That refers to the response time. Anything over 8ms will probably not look good for games.

I am looking at a 22" Chimei at MicroCenter which is on sale for $239 at the moment... However, I don't know anything about the quality of Chimei...

If it is a good brand, that is a great price...

I was doing some warranty repairs for a large company last week. While I was there the IT guy was telling me they just bought 400 of the 20" and 22" Samsung LCD's. He said he wasn't happy with them and that he wished they had stuck with the Dell monitors they usually get.

Unfortunately I was busy fixing the computer and not paying that much attention to him so I didn't catch the exact reason why he was unhappy with them. I don't think it was anything major but rather just something small that made him think he should have gone with the Dell monitors.

One very good thing though, out of the 400 he said they only had one unit they had to send back. You can't complain about 1 out of 400. ;)

Don't let my comments shy you away from it. Like I said I think it was more of a minor thing that he was being picky about. :)

Oh and BTW, I have a 19" Acer and love it. At 8ms response I get a little ghosting on certain screens but it's pretty rare I notice any. I think the time I only really ever noticed it is in the Sims2 when you first go into the neighborhood with the aliens and the camera is doing the flyby on the satellite dishes, I get a little ghosting on the dishes.

The response time is the time to change from black/white or white/black. This means the lower the response time, the less lag in the display.
Gamers want very fast response, the lower the better.
Ghosting is the artifact left when the display data has changed but the resulting display has not showed the change yet.

is there a noticeable difference between higher resolutions because on HD tv there isnt much between 1080p and 1080i or does there become a point were you cant tell
