why doesnt it work on xp?
Are you saying that the network doesn't work on XP or that you are getting this notification message under XP. If the latter, then upgrading the NIC drivers might work but I have often seen this notification with no obvious adverse affects. I have turned off the notification in the connection's properties before now just to get rid of this prompt.

You are very unclear as to what works. Please use complete words not IM speak.

Please list each OS and what does not work.

sorry im used to using IM speak i try not to use it on here put sometimes i use it with out knowing.

ok then
i have windows XP and vista ultimate

on windows XP i cannot access the internet, on the bottom right hand corner of the screen were your connections are it says "limited or no connection". yet when i log onto vista the internet works fine. so it isn't my router and i cant update it (no internet)

the other question was that on Battle field 2142 it uses "punkbuster" when online gaming on Xp it works fine (when the connection works) but on Vista it doesn't have you got any idea what the problem is? i

Please report the following information:

1) Are there any yellow ! or Red X in device manager?

2) Please report your IP address, by clicking start->run-> and typing CMD. At the command prompt type IPCONFIG and press enter.

If your IP address is 0.0.0.0 this usually means a hardware failure
If your IP address is in the range of 169.x.x.x it usually means the NIC cannot get an IP address from the router
If your IP address is 192.X.X.X this means the card is working and gets an IP address from the router and there is a Windows or browser configuarion issue.

How log after installing Vista did this occur in XP?

Go with ClassicS...

... also any firewalls running and any SP1 or SP2 with WinXP.

As ClassicS.. indicated, you are not getting the ip address from the router.

What an amazing troubleshooting technique. You saw a bug so you burned the house down. Well it is one way to solve the problem....:D :D

true true a few weeks back i went to a computer repair shop for work experience and ANY problem they had the first ting they did was format and re-install and everything worked fine after but lucky my Os partition is 10GB so it easy just a case of re-installing drivers and updates. it always works for me but it can be a disaster is you dont back up

Tell me what the name of the store is, so if I every Computer trouble in Cypress, I know who to avoid. That is lazy and shows a lack of knowledge.
