I wish to insert a number of jgraphicfiles into a graphic program, move them around, annotate the pictures and save the entire group as one graphic file.
How do I accomplish this for free?
I downloaded Photo Filtre and tried that. Although I can add muiltiple pictrures to a canvas I can only edit them or move them when I first add a picture. When I add the second picture I lose the dotted line around the first picture and I don't know how to re-select it so I can do further editng of the forst picture.
Does anubody know how to re-select a picture in Photo Filtre so I can move it around or edit it?

I don't know Photo Filtre but you could try TheGimp (for Windows presumably).
http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/

Like all elaborate graphics packages there is a learning curve to overcome.

Had a quick look at Photo Filtre. Hide any current selection from the Selection Menu and define a new selection with the selection tool (the Arrow Tool).

I found a simple way to produce a graphic file with multiple picrures. I used Power Point 2002. I inserted as many jpg pictures as I wanted. I could then select each picture and move, format or edit it. When I was satisfied with the arrangement I saved the file as a Power Point presentation, and also as a jpg file.

The jpg file I could then use as desired. Anytime I wish to change the arrangement I could open the PP presentaion file and edit and move each image. I then resaved it as a PP presentation file (for future editing). And I saved it as a jpg file for my immediate use.

Pretty neat, huh?

Didn't realise you wanted an app to store multiple images separately rather than multiple images on one document or slide.

If PP does what you want that's great (but "How do I accomplish this for free?" doesnt of course apply). The free OpenOffice has an equivalent program called Impress for Presentations and also a Draw utility which can also save multiple images in one file but in a more simplified manner.
