Did a fresh installation of XP Pro no a new HDD,when set to 1600x1200, that's the only way it will show at full screen, anything less than that and you will see a smaller screen or a screen with black borders around it, problem is, when set at the max res as mentioned, the fonts are very small, I updated the only video driver I am seeing on Dell's site so why am I having this problem or how can I fix it?

Hello,
My name is Mike, I’m a Technical Analyst located at Dell corporate headquarters in Round Rock, TX. I’m part of an internet outreach team developed to interact with the online community regarding technical questions and issues that customers face with Dell products. I’ve read your post and wanted to offer a few suggestions. First, does this happen on every screen including the desktop? If you are using a wide screen LCD and running a standard screen program then it would be normal for it to display black boarders around the screen. If it happens on everything, including the desktop, then check the BIOS for any feature that would enable full screen or video expansion. If your BIOS doesn’t support this setting or the setting is already enabled, you may want to double check the drivers. If you are still having problems with this after trying these suggestions please get back to me at customer_advocate@dell.com with this topic in the subject line, ATTN: Mike B. (Black borders) and I’ll get back to you ASAP. If you could also include the model of the computer, the service tag, and the reason for the OS reinstall (failed HDD, new HDD for more space, ect…) I would appreciate it.
Thank you,
Mike B.
