I have a similar problem, although I don't think the power light flashes. After a failure, pressing the soft power-on switch turns the fan on, but the computer does not boot. I have to turn the switch on the power supply off and back on, and then it works fine.

Mean time to failure is about 24 hours, but it varies greatly. Most (but not all failures) occur when the computer is not in use -- at night or when I am gone.

I have replaced the power supply, CPU fan, motherboard and processor. The RAM tests OK, and the drivers are up to date, according to Vista. A monitor shows the temperature is well below the limit, but once or twice a day, the monitor reports an over voltage of slightly greater than 10% on the +5v reading. This is true with either power supply.

Also, for lots of ideas (some contradictory), try this:

Many people seem to think it's a Vista problem.
