View Full Version : What should I do?

Would it be a good idea to take one test at a time or take them both at once?(the core and operating system) If I take them both, I will have to study all of it at one time and be prepared for 140 questions (70 each). However, I have heard it's a little cheaper to take it both at the same time. I'm considering taking the Operating Systems exam first, then concentrate on the hardware part. Any opinions?

I tell my students to take the tests one at a time, a couple of days apart. It's no cheaper to take them both at the same time.
I also recommend taking the hardware first, because it seems to be a bit easier and can boost your confidence. Then, you have a day or two to study for the Operating Systems test.

Well, I plan to take the OS test first because I am currently in an Operating System class. I have not taken a hardware class. Although I know a lot about hardware, I'd still need to study that much more. It just seems like there are less things on the OS exam: Win 9x, Win 2000 and Networkng, while the hardware exam covers a wide range of topics. To me the software exam seems easier. Anyway, hopefully that OS class plus Mike Meyer's new book will get me by the OS exam. Then I can study hard for only the hardware portion. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

Cosam is correct in that there is no cost differential in taking the exams either together or apart. I took the exams in March, with the older DOS/Win exams. I did both exams the same day. Passed both, and for me the O/S exam was definitely more challenging than the hardware exam. my recommendation is if you are not pressed for time, take them on separate days. I took them the same day because I didn't want to repeat the three hour drive another day. Best wishes, and don't stress, you can do this others have. Plan, Prepare, and Pass.
