In A+ Ceritifcation Training Guide, New Riders Press, Author: Charles J. Brooks, it offers Test Tips. One is as follows:

Memorize standard IBM error code numbers.

Now, if you would refer to my page on IBM Diagnostic Error Codes (http://www.bioscentral.com/misc/ibmdiag.htm), this list is not all that short (actually it's rather huge). If someone could tell me if the test is looking for random numbers or rather specific ones.Thanks for the help on this.

I can't offer a definitive answer, but I think it's most likely it will be related to general areas rather than specific numbers. 600 range is floppy, 1700 range is hard drive, etc.

I seriously doubt if memorizing the entire list would be necessary, or even possible...
