I helped my inlaws swap a HD out of their computer. Everything works great and all files transfered over with no problems except for office pro. The shortcuts have all turned to generic icons but they still lead to the program and the programs still work. On Word and Excel I get warning messages that tells you there is an error in the program, but everything works fine (Publisher, PowerPoint and Access do not show this error meassge). I want to repair or uninstall XP pro but you must have the CD to do either. My mother in law is a school teacher and used a Office Pro CD from the school system on the original install, I asked her to get the discs again so I could repair it. She brought home the discs but it is not the same key as the original and I can not find the correct file on the cd to help either repair or uninstall Office Pro. My question, is there a way to uninstall Office XP Pro without the CD? Can anyone point me in a direction? I have tried looking oat Microsoft web page but can not find an article that relates to my problem.

Does the original key code work with your M-in-L's CD. If you don't know it you can dig it out with Magic Jelly Bean (http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder.shtml)

I'll try it. I'm not sure if the key is the real problem or not. When I put in the Office XP Pro Cd it can not find the files that are necessary to uninstall/repair the install. I am at a lost. :(

Do you need the CD to uninstall it?
