Has any one ever had any dealings ,know any thing good or bad about Ameritrain Their program for A+/Net+ Cert. is around 4500.00-10%
A 5 student max and all the hands on you can handle. They told me 5 students that way it's more of a personalized training? And if I Include
MCSE They guarentee placement or I can choose instructor?? But I think the MCSE would be another 5 or 6000.00. so what do ya think, It would get me off ya'lls back for awhile though http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/eek.gif http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif don't know if i could handle that LOL. Not familiar with the school but a good way to check schools out is to talk to students who have gone through it.

Hi Yoda,

$4,500 http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/eek.gif For that kinda money you should end up with more than a certificate.

When it comes to A+, there's really two different areas to look at. Hardware and software.

The hardware (or "core") exam is pretty easy. Memorize the IRQ's and DMA's. Put together a couple of win95 systems and you'll get the idea.

I found the OS test very challanging. There are questions on ALL the M$ operating systems... DOS, 95, 98, NT, 2000.

For $4500, I would build a computer that would serve as my "WORK" computer, and load it up with ALL the relevent software.

Do everything 10 or 20 times. Setup/delete, install/uninstall, install it this way, install it that way. Do a reinstall of a program 10 to 20 times and you know how to do it better than when you started.

Go to all the A+ test sites and take every test you can. Over and over, until you're confident of the material.

For $4500 I'd like a real bear of a machine, loads of software AND an A+ for the effort!

IMHO http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/redface.gif sorry, kind of a rant.

I am currently attending a tech. school in Huntsville, AL. They charge about $3000 for a Net+, and about double that for the rest of MCSE, so it would run about $10K for a complete MCSE. That is with some hands on and you also get a grade for each part (kinda like ITT Tech).
If I were you, I would look at their job placement success.
I did not have much of a choice, since ITT Tech. and Virginia College are the only two that are within 100 mi.

By the way, do you have a Virginia College near you? I thought they had one somewhere in NC.
