Hi,

I have a MSI K8N Master2 FAR with 2 Opterons 252s, an NVidia 8800 GTS, XFi Extreme gamer, 2 SATA drives (main drive on removable craddle), 2 Gig memory, 640 WATT P/S

I have been trying to install Windows Vista. I have tried installing as an upgrade to XP, and from scratch.

Either way, it goes through the entire installation fine, and when it does the last boot and Vista seems to be about to start, it shuts the system down completely and it won't power up again until I unplug the cord from the P/S for a while and the when I plug it in it powers up without using the power button. If i leave the same Vista hard drive it will do the same. I put the XP hard drive and it works just fine.

I am assuming it has to do with the mother board.

Any one had simmilar experience or any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

David

Hi David, and welcome to The PC Guide Forums!

What version of Windows Vista are you trying to install?

The only versions that support duel processor socket motherboards is Win Vista Business and Win Vista Ultimate.

You may want to try posting your problem over at 2CPU.com (http://forums.2cpu.com/). There is a better chance that someone over there has had the same or similar problem.

Thanks Rond36,

I'll try that, but to answer your question, it is Vista Ultimate
