I got a new compy finally.
DDR RAM
so im not in the stone age as much anymore.
but thing is.
it comes with an AMD Athlon at like 1.45 GHz
But its running @ 850MHz
i took out the processor and looked up the specs
and infact it is built to run at 1.45 GHz or so.

So is it safe to say i can clock it back up to 1.45 GHz like it was originally?

Well. The CPU was ment to run at 1133.

Since no one answered. I took the liberty of overclocking it myself.

its running at 1.149Ghz at the present moment. much much more stable than it was at 850, crazy the way things work eh?

What model is it? What does windows say?

Windows is reporting (via Everest Home Edition) 1143.5 MHz CPU speed

Im thinking about overclocking more. The CPU temp is 53C.

dont know the exact model, but i took it out and googled it and its speed was infact 1133MHz.

Sufferwell, you'll need to get hold of a program called cpu-z to identify your processor. There also are AMD programs that will identify it. Also, everest should give you a model name as well. When you took it out, what information did you record? Once you have a clear id, you can check out its rated speed, though it sounds like via google you've identified it, though that's not the best way. If that is a store-bought computer, it should be running at its rated speed, and so if it was running much slower, then you can always take it back to the store, as obviously something is amiss. If this was a home-built system, it's not unusual for the processor to default to a slower speed, often by the divider (defaults fsbs of 33, 66, 100, 133, 166, and 200 >> dividers of 1,2,3,4,5, and 6, respectively) resetting such that your fsb is slower. Chances are that your cpu is not a mobile processor, so the multiplier if fixed. So how exactly did you increase its speed? Did you reset the divider or did you simply jack up the fsb? That's important because it will affect your memory speed as well. Also, is the cpu temp of 53C at idle or under load? What are you using to measure the cpu temp.

Finally, to help you out, it's absolutely necessary that you post the specs and model numbers of your cpu, mobo, and all your core hardware. Otherwise, it really limits what forum members can suggest. Information is everything.
