Howdy!
:)

Machine: Compaq Armada 1500c laptop.

I am trying to turn this machine into a DOS games machine.
It works very well in this respect.

There is but one problem - the LCD resolution.
It is an 800 x 600 panel, but DOS is 640 x 480 for the most part.

There is no option in the BIOS to expand the screen in 640 x 480 mode.

Therefore, I really need a 3rd party driver or application, which would allow me to expand the 640x480 up to 800x600.

Anyone know of anything?

Must be able to run from DOS.

Thanks.

The link above will give you more info then I can type

In short you can use the Vesa drivers and or setting to run your screen at 800/600
IF YOUR VIDEO SUPPORTS IT.
That is the easiest way to get it

There is also a way to set the screen to wide format (132 text)
I don't recall the command line at the moment but it is a doc config setting for the display.
I am away from home at the moment so I don't have all my old links.

Found the link I was thinking of

Use the original video card manufacturers' VESA software
The best place to get a video driver from the manufacturer of the video card is on the original diskette that probably came with your video card when you bought it. Nearly all video card manufacturers include a VESA video driver, and have done so for several years. The video driver may or may not be better than UNIVESA, but it should definitely work with your card! Although UNIVESA is a very good program, it is possible it won't work with your card. The original manufacturer's driver certainly will work, though.

If they did not supply a driver on diskette with the card, they may have a BBS or support area on AOL or Compuserve, or on the Internet, where you can download their software.
Contacting VESA (Video Electronics Standards Assocation)
VESA maintains a complete web site at:
http://www.vesa.org/
There, you will will be able to find plenty of information to get VESA up and running on your PC. VESA is a non-profit organization headquartered in San Jose, California. (Note: Our company is not associated with the VESA organization other than that we try to support the video standards they set.)

It has the name of the vesa program to find if you cant find the original
