It seems to me there is a bit of favortism going on here after reading all the post. It also appears some people will just post a response to there own post just to keep it on the top. It also appears that most responses are tech wanna beee's. Come on people get a GRIp If you really want to help someone know the facts!!!!!! Or at least provide a good link. Ask me a question and I will give you a real answer!

Here we go again...
It also appears that most responses are tech wanna beee's. Come on people get a GRIp If you really want to help someone know the facts!!!!!! Or at least provide a good link.
Looks like you're not off to a good start, show up here putting these people down and they don't have a tendency to accept you very well, as you can see by the responses.
We have some of the best on the net here, if they weren't, they would be hearing from me on a regular basis. Check a few of the posts and you'll find more links than you can read in a week, and some excellent advice as well. And we manage to have a sense of humor too, and very few troublemakers.
The facts? If the participants here didn't have a good grasp on computers they wouldn't stay here long. They certainly DO know the facts. Check a few of the posts by Ghost_Hacker, mjc, Tjaymadison, Hiredgoonz, RandyTX and others...I left out several, I'm not about to try and list everyone. They are all very good, they know what they're doing and if they don't know the answer they will look it up and usually post links to their sources.
If you wish to participate in the forums you're welcome to do so, but making derogatory comments about the people asking or answering questions does not make me a happy camper, and if it continues you will find yourself unable to participate at all.

I won't be posting here again, I may come back to read some of the dumb answer that I read here for a quick laugh, however I could of been such a benifit for all of you if you would of only answered my questions in a reasonable way. Please people get off your high horse and truely try to help one and another out more the results will be more benifit!!!!!!!!

I have not seen your questions.. and I have not seen you answer anyone elses questions.
Not one.
so apparently, we are not missing anything.
you have not demonstrated any ability whatsoever, instead you have come here and critisized this ENTIRE forum??
this does NOT inspire confidence.
additionally: you have been warned by our MODerator Pete, that we will not abide by rude, incorrect, or troublesome posters, when he said your right to participate could be removed.. this is done by your IP, not by whatever current name you call yourself.. he has warned you about this.
If you like to be on a site/forum that encourages this confrontational behavior, there are PLENTY of them on the 'net.
I suggest you find one of these until you grow up.

Just to bust in with my 2 cents worth before Pete locks this one down.
Everything that has been said, has been said.
But has anyone noticed this guy's spelling and grammar? Yow! Here are a few of my favorites: "favortism", "bulltin", "benifit".
Maybe the spelling can be overlooked since he was probably so very, very excited to see how many responses his post got. Hmmmm...I'm fueling the fire too. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif

Errrrrrr, My intent to come here and post was NOT to get everyone upset at me! It appears that most people that are answering my post are very imature. I was only trying to make a suggestion that everyone could benifit from my posting the things that were wrong with this forum. Why should PP block my IP when I haven't done anything wrong! It's all of you who seem to think you are above and on the cutting edge of the Tech world. I have been working successfully on computers for over 8 years! That should tell you something.

the level of our "maturity" is not at issue here.
as for what PETE does, that is his decision. (he has the hammer)
we like things to be friendly here.
I still have not seen this "Expert" post anything helpfull, we welcome usefull information here as well as ANY corrections or better ideas to problems posted.
one more thing: Pete, is a very fair guy, and has more patience than most, but do not mistake his kindness for weakness...
START POSTING {{CORRECT}} ANSWERS, (instead of telling us how great you are) and we may take you seriously.
at this point it is you that has no credibility...

If all a person wanted was direct (impersonal, "don't really care") help... no peripheral help or "calming" or moral support...then they can call technical support. You're right, techfinity, a good many of us are learning and really don't have a lot of experience or knowledge..but we're often capable of "looking it up" and helping in that way. Personally, I would always rather have my car looked at by a friend who knows something about car mechanics than a "real" mechanic who runs a shop that overcharges. (If any of us is a "real" mechanic...I am not talking about you, but about the mechanic who charged my friend $243 for an oxygen sensor and igniter last week.)
Maybe you should go find yourself a more "perfect" forum to participate in. We have tons of "experts" here, but maybe not enough for you, and I for one am not going to stop posting just because I am not an expert.

Yes, in your words, I am a "wanna be" a techie. Though I also accept that there is not much likelyhood of it. But, puting that aside for the moment, if I see a post that I "THINK" I know the answer to, I post that reply. I also post to the effect that my answers should be checked by those more knowldge-able than myself. If I were to take your post to heart I would not participate, and there for I would not learn. You would aslo deny me the facillity of sharing my limited knowledge. What little knowledge that I have, has been gained by those so called wanna be's as well as the fqualifed techies.
Finally, I may well have experienced a problem that no one else has had issue with. Am I to withhold my experience from others because I am no fully knowledgeable?
Think back to when you first started. How much did you know when did you first posted a reply to someone, WHEN you did not have full knowledge?

8 years, wow-i've been fooling with them since 1981, so that gives me; what 12 years on you?! gee, think maybe i know a little bit about them? http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/eek.gif I know there are others in this forum who also have spent a great deal of time with these wonders of the modern age-not even Bill Gates knows everything there is to know about computers. If you want to impress someone-sshow some maturity and apologize for your childish behavior, i've got a 10 year old niece that shows more consideration than you do.

I've only been hanging around this site for about a month or so and I can't see where anyone makes replies to keep a post on top. In fact the core players here seem to be the most mature nicest bunch of people I've seen around. I couldn't imagine myself joining a board and the first post is to start cutting the regulars - to each their own.
BTW I love the way you guys have avoided flaming in this situation

Ya know gang,
I'm not sure this person is really being legitimate in his/her critique. We may unwittingly be giving exactly the response he/she wanted. ie: Some people just want some attention, and negative attention is better than no attention at all, but, it's not like we or anyone on this forum ignored him or her so....
I don't think we should bother with anymore responses. I understand (not necessarily my practice) that the best most mature response to criticism is a polite, "thank you for your thoughts and concerns, we will give it ours." And in this case I don't think our thoughts or concerns should be wrapped up in Techsuperfluous's. If he or she was really trying to be helpful.....see? Doesn't make sense does it?!

Confound it. Nimnorf2 has stolen my thunder.
I think it best to give posts like this a wide berth, and let Pete play bad cop. Landing on this fellow like a sumo wrestler clearly has not helped or informed him or anyone else. Indeed, it seems to have aroused yet more contempt in his rhetoric.
And if I corrected all the misspellings and grammatical errors I ever saw here, I would have been squirrel bait by now.

An oxygen sensor will usually run around $50-$60, with possibly thirty minutes to install it at roughly $85/hour labor.
What are you referring to when you say "ignitor"?
Anyway, it surely does sound like your friend was taken for a ride.
TechInfinity: We certainly do not take people for a ride around here. I have yet to see anyone post useless information on this forum. Everyone tries very hard to understand what the poster is trying to explain and then offer help in a clear, concise and friendly manner. Even some of the latest newcomers are jumping in with both feet to try and help posters. That's what we need around here, ideas and more ideas. It's not about being able to give someone a "real" answer, but rather, it's about giving that person information and possible solutions that they can then use to troubleshoot their problems and learn something in the process.
And another thing, this is called a Discussion Forum, not a Real Answer Forum. So let's see some of that expertise you so proudly claim to have. Pick a post, any post, and try to help the person with their problem, rather than coming in here and saying, "Hi, I'm Chevy Chase, and you're not".
Not one person on this forum is going to take you seriously until you do.

OK, enough's enough. I think this one will only go downhill if it's allowed to continue much longer, so it's time to close it.
Thanks to all the regular participants for handling this one mostly in a mature, intelligent manner. We did have a couple of snide remarks here and there, but nothing I'm going to bother pointing out or reprimanding anyone for. In general it has been pretty nicely done.
Techinfinity: It's up to Charles to decide whether to stop you from posting on a permanent basis. If he does decide to let it ride for now and see what happens, I can promise you the next time I see anything even resembling a derogatory comment concerning the good folks who participate here, it WILL be your last post. I've let it be known that my opinion is your last one should be already done. We'll see...
