Hi all, I have posted about this problem before about my Western Digital HD t being recognized on my deivce mnanager and in my bios but am unable to access it through explorer or Computer management to use it as a slave so i can retrieve some data I have on it. Well after alot of talking to other pepople at the bars they told me that what probably happened is that the arm or whatever its called inside the HD might have broken andthhats why device manager wont populate it thus me not being able to retrieve this crucial data.

my question is....if I pop open the HD and take the disk that's in there and place it in another HD, will that work? I know places that I see online charge thousands of dollars. I already did a recovery program thing and both that I have tried said that the drive has physical damages. So what do you guys think? is that HD suicide?

You would end up with two dead drives and no data. The tolerances on the mechanical parts are so fine that even tiny smoke particles will cause problems. Just taking the lid of a working drive will most likely ruin it.

Hagar is right, don't even try opening it up. One of the reason the recovery companies charge so much is because the drive has to taken apart in a "clean" room.

If you end up going with professional recovery you will probably ruin any chance of recovery.
