Hello. I have a probem with my computer, i think its the motherboard or something driver for my graphics, but i have downloaded all drivers and everything i can find but it dont work. I also downloaded audio drivers, but no luck.
Well, heres the main problem:
I starting my computer, waiting for it to go in my user, and then i starting my game. (The problem keep on doing it with all my games). Then i join a server, or playing some single player (Before i got internet it did the same thing also) and playing in some time. (one hour or something) then it freezes and stop responding, and i cant do anything. I need to restart my mashine.
The sound, when its frozed, sounds like a rotating propel, just like b,r,r,r,r.
When i trying to press Ctrl+Alt+Del nothing happenes. The led on my keyboard wont light up when i press my Num lock or Scroll Lock or any button.
The lights on my computer, when its working, shows that its not working at all. The problem can couse also when im just typing like im doing now.
Please help me!
Sorry for my bad english.
If the problem happens after playing games offline after an hour or so, then remove and reseat your video card making sure it's fully seated. Also, make sure its fan is running, its heatsink is securely mounted, and clean any dust off its fan and heatsink, and also off the CPU's fan and heatsink, from all vents, and from inside the case. Finally, do not locate the computer in an enclosed space.
If that does not help, then remove the computer's cover, and run an external fan blowing on the computer. If that works, then your system may need either additional or more powerful case fans.

All fans are running and i tryed to remove the cover and placed a external fan but its dont work. I dont think its the dust. When i first purchased the computer its also did it. I can try to remove the video card and put it in again
If reseating the video card does not help, then disable any special effects for the sound card, like 3D sounds and sound effects, stereo expansion, etc.
If no luck, then reduce the sound card's acceleration.

How to reset a video card?
How to disable special effects for sound card?
And how to reduce the sound card's acceleration?
But it also happenes when im not using any kind of sound like typing.
Do you happen to own a Dell computer?

No, its not a Dell computer.
Which O/S are you using, e.g., Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP, Vista, etc.

Windows XP Home Edition
To reseat the video card, turn off the computer, disconnect its power cord, remove the computer's cover, remove the video card from its slot, and reinsert it in its slot.
If reseating the video card does not help, then see if doing a clean boot helps:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;310353
Also, if the problem happens when just typing, then the sound card is probably not the cause, and you should not have to mess with its settings.

I did try to reseat the video card but it dont work, i have tryed to make a clean boot and it dont work.

No, i forgot the last step... Well now i dont have any internet on my computer when i did the boot. So i typed this on my cell phone.
It is Windows 2000 theme, and I cannot change back to XP theme
You can revert to a Normal startup state by doing the following:
1. Click Start, click Run, type msconfig, and then click OK. The System Configuration Utility dialog box appears.
2. Click the General tab, click Normal Startup - load all device drivers and services, and then click OK.
3. When you are prompted, click Restart to restart the computer.
But before doing that, see if the problem still happens when playing games offline.

I played one round offline at the boot thing and it worked just fine.
I dont know if it just was luck.
I pressed Normal Startup and played for some time and the problem still happens.

No, i played offline with clean boot and it still happenes.
Download Motherboard Monitor at the following link, and check the temperatures when the problem happens:
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=311
If the CPU temperature is 60 C or less, and the system temperature is 40 C or less, then the next thing to try is doing a reformat of the HD, and a clean reinstall of Windows.
If that does not help, then hardware(video card, MB, CPU, RAM, etc.) is probably causing the problem. The only way to troubleshoot these components is to either swap them out, or have them tested.

How can i check the temperature? I dont know when it does it.
Check the temperatures frequently when the system is running normally. At least you'll get a glean if heat is the cause.

It cant be the temperature.
Today i turned on my computer, and 5 seconds after it did it.
If it runs for only 5 seconds, then there's definitely an overheating problem, probably the CPU.
Remove the computer's cover, turn it on, and make sure the CPU's fan is running. If it is, then it's overheating for some other reason. If the system is still under warranty, then get the problem fixed by the supplier. If it's out of warranty, then you can either swap out the CPU, or have your system shop tested.

CPU: -1 °C Case: -1 °C
How can this be possible?
Your CPU and MB may not have temperature diodes.

So i cant see the temperature?

Well since we're turning to page 2 without much progress so far, how 'bout you listing your system specs for starters on that page so we can look up the info whether there is any sensors or not. If proprietary, list model # and maker. It may also be that the temperature settings are set w-a-y too low and going off for no reason, but not likely if it has been ok for sometime. Please indicate how long you've had this setup as well.
If it doesn't have any sensors, this will be a first for me! I realize they sometimes strip down features to conserve cost with Dell's and other brands but removing temp sensors on a mobo is akin to having no idiot light (overheat indicator) in a automobile!
The "b,r,r,r,r" you refer to, is it an electrical buzzing or mechanical sound like a fan? I agree that it is most likely heat too. Check if it a case or onboard speaker doing it or what fan it is coming from.
Well since we're turning to page 2 without much progress so far....
Sometimes one has to troubleshoot one step at a time.

Sometimes one has to troubleshoot one step at a time.
But the right step is sometimes hidden amongst what is thought to be as insignificant.
If you all want to pussyfoot around by just guessing what the issue is with an unknown set of components, fine. That's not my game. Have at it.
Wait! I need to make popcorn first...
MAYBE,,, by page 3, I will come back in and help. The level of disrespect, arrogance and noncompliance around here lately is wearing on my nerves as of late. Ski, if it is not apparent to you, many valuable members have left for greener pastures. There needs to be some guidelines set as a starting point to be effective in diagnosing a problem and if we as volunteers are going to efficiently donate our time, it would be courteous to say the least, if members would provide the info when requested. But lately that hasn't been much of a fact. In fact it is something that usually comes out on page 3 or 4 when the facts are f-i-n-a-l-l-y brought forth and the problems are resolved.
Can you tell me of ANY mobo WITHOUT sensors for at least the PROCESSOR? Short Circuit movie flashback here! N-e-e-d- m-o-r-e i-n-p-u-t Stephanie!
I don't know your perception level but anyone who keeps replying with one-liners that don't actually answer anything the longstanding members are asking appear to the vast majority to be nothing more than TROLLS and should be treated as such.If they cannot reply in completeness, neither can they expect their assistance to be complete.
Is it such a bad thing to list system specs? I mean, C'mon!
If we need to pry to find the info, the poster doesn't deserve the effort of the solution, PERIOD!

Now i know its the heat, so i want to do something about it.
Thank you Ski.

When I'm trying to help someone solve a problem, computer related or not, and others subsequently offer their input in a tactful and diplomatic manner on solving that same problem, then I take no personal offense. I'm all for the teamwork philosophy, and am a firm believer in two heads(or more) always being better than one simply because I clearly realize that I do not come up with the correct solutions 100% of the time. Never did, never will. But sometimes my suggestions are on the money, regardless of the manner in which I handle the troubleshooting process.
However, I do not like when someone publicly derides and mocks me during my attempts to help others. And like with so many others, that's when human nature takes over, and my ears go back, my spine stiffens, and I lose my cool.
But in this case, I'm able to maintain my cool because I know that you're blaming yourself for the loss of a fellow guru, and are upset over it(Is this the same reason for others also leaving?):

Apparently, your patience meter has a much lower overload setting than mine, but did you ever consider than some posters do not speak English well, and that may be the reason for the step-by-step "slog thru the mud" troubleshooting process?
I've gone thru this type of procedure a few times before. I forget if it happened here or at other forums, but the end result was an eventual solution to the person's problem. And it was not because some unknown fact surfaced at the last minute either. It was simply because I was tenacious and patient enough to stay the course.
In closing, I'd just like to say that it was a fun ride while it lasted, but I am not going to tolerate this type of abuse. Have a great life everyone.

Those that are on the receiving end of rudeness are deserving of an apology because words once thrown, like stones, cannot be recalled. I also doubt if any members have left these shores because of posts by n00bs or the inarticulate.

Johnny,
Sometimes it's the littlest things that set me off and I go into a blur only to fail to see the whole picture.
I know I've been an arse but it's my arse that could probably stand a kickin' for what I've done. Lord knows I deserve it!
