Is it possible to convert my windows XP media center addition operating system to windows 98 with the windows 98 icons and the classic menus and internet and still be running on Windows XP ?

A number of visual things can be set to classic views. Right Click the Start Button and choose Properties for starters. The view in explorer would be another candidate.

Set the fonts from Tahoma to MS Sans Serif.
