Could some on tell me the command or process I have to use so that I can stop programs starting during bootup time?

I did this once before from start/run/'command'.
I have now forgotten the command.

Note I am not refering to C:\Windows\Start Menue folders,
or Start/settings/Taskbar and Settings

I did try typing:
"start"
"Start up"
"Start menu"
on the windows help tools but this did not give me the information.

Goto start/run ( or hit your windows key +r) type " msconfig; look at your startup tab and uncheck anything in there you don't want to run.

For a permanent fix goto these registry keys and delete the values you see in the right pane ( make a backup of these keys, or your entire registry first ): HK-local machine/software/microsoft/windows/current version/run, run once, run services
