hi, i have a toshiba satallite a100 its got intel core duo 1.73gh 1gb ram windows vista home premium but its got a crap graphics card (intel gma950)
and was thinking about getting a NVIDIA GeForce 7900GS. i was asking is this compatable with my notebook and is there a better one out for a better price? as affter buying my laptop i am quite poor!!! thanks 4 the help in advance:confused:

So you want to swap the vga? Think in most notebook the vga card is soldered and its quite difficult the change. I don't think it would be worthy of changing the card because it would cost you a lot if ever someone agrees to replace it.

It is possible to upgrade graphics cards on SOME laptops, but generally it isn't worth it. It all depends on if your laptop uses an integrated graphics card or discrete card. Even if it is upgradable you are limited to whateve cards were offered with the particular laptop, as the card has to physically be designed to fit inside the case.

Long story short it is just not worth the trouble for mot people.

there must be a way!!! i cant play new games cause my ****y vga and cant play most old games cause i run vista. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

is there any way to allocate more ram to graphics as its a shared card and only 32mb are allocated for video craphics????

You should be able to adjust the amount of RAM allocated for the video card. Just keep in mind it is taking that much away from other system uses.

Opps. I meant to say it should be adjusted in the BIOS. Just look through and find the setting for the integrated graphics and adjust the amount of RAM used. Sorry about that.
