Having convinced a neighbor to buy a new system, I am bracing myself for too many telephone calls. He has never seen or used XP Home. I'd like to buy him a book with easy to follow information to keep the calls down to a minimum. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Well if it is a new PC then it should come with some tech support. Have him call them instead of you.

"Windows XP for dummies" springs to mind.
I started with "Windows 95 for dummies".
Didn't find it quite ideal.
It repeated things and I thought they only needed to be said once.
Very comprehensive though.
I found books in my local library that handled the subject better.
Very logically laid out and didn't repeat each point.

On line stuff maybe: http://www.winxpfix.com/page2-basics-for-beginners.htm and a bit of Googling.
