Right now I have my modem and router upstairs on the desk which I'll be setting up a new PC. I already have a PC downstairs using that router wirelessly and it works just fine. I just don't know the correct steps to adding another desktop, preferrably w/ a direct cable connection to the router.
Hopefully, its not too complicated :) but what do i need to do in order to add another computer to the network, and what kind of cable would i need in order to do that?

This should be really easy.
Assuming the new PC has a RJ45 port:
Use a RJ45 Ethernet cable (Network cable/Patch cable, NOT Crossover cable) to connect the PC to an open port in the back of the router.
Boot up the PC.
You can see if the router assigned an address by going to the Run Command, type CMD, enter, then type IPCONFIG, enter.
If the 4 replies show 169.xxx.xxx.xxx, it is not connecting.
If the replies come back 192.168.xxx.xxx, you should be on the LAN.

Okay it took me a little longer than suggested but my pc is up and running! I'm on the internet and installing whatnot for now, with minor issues that I ran into but solved in no time. That was the kind of cable i needed too, but the process of connecting was a bit more tedious than that. i had to use my router's installation disk to set it up, but thats about it.
Thanks again for the help!
