Hello,
Should I buy the EVGA Nvidia 7950GT? I have found a great deal on one ($145). I am just not sure if I should get it, I was thinking about holding off and getting a 8600gts but it is more than twice as much money ($320). I just cant stand my current card a Sapphire x800GTO Fireblade ed. It plays HL2 maxed out, but it wont play NFS Carbon at even medium settings without dipping down into the 15fps range which is un-playable.

7950GT

x800GTO (Current Card)

256mb gdd3 video memory
400 MHz Core Clock
500 MHz Memory Clock

the 7950gt is one of the best DX9 cards and a bit better than the 8600gt (you would benefit more from a 8800gts 320mb) but it has DX 10 its swings and roundabouts mate

7950GT is a better card than an 8600.

The only thing the 8600 has over the 7950 is DX10. If you are not running vista don't even worry about it. If you can't splurge for a 8800 don't worry about it, get the 7950.

Thanks for you replies, I lost th bidding war on the one I saw, and the price rose way to high (from $145 to $195). I did find another card though it has the "Buy It Now" option that I like. It is the BFG 7950GT 256MB version. I am going to order it rite now. I would have liked to have been able to get the 512MB version but I don't think it will be a big deal, almost anything will be better than what I have now. Once the next paycheck comes around I am going to pick up another one of these to run in SLI.
