Read this DDR vs. DDR2 (http://www.overclockercafe.com/Articles/DDR_vs_DDR2/index.htm). I don't know about about DDR2 1200 I would get 1066, 1066 Is more readily available and many manufactures make that speed so the price isn't to bad 2G 2x1G 1066 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145033)

There is no need for 1200 unless you are an extreme over clocker.

In fact for anything Intel up to and including a quad core DDR2-533 is enough. 667 is the standard recommendation to give plenty of headroom. Anything above that is really a waste.

DDR-800 is still the standard for AMD sAM2. If you are a big over clocker you can go with something faster. But still, 1200 is a waste.

When you run ram in dual channel mode you effectively double the bandwidth. DDR-533 effectively becomes DDR-1066, and so on. There is a certain amount of performance overhead that comes with dual channel so we usually recommend 667 (x2=1333) to make up for any performance lose while still giving room for over clocking if so desired.
